“ You get the authentic Cantonese-style experience here. Wait in line for a table, wait outside, or wait inside. Pick your poison. Then pack in at a table and try and talk. What????? Can you say it louder?!!!! No frills, order, and get your food. It is fast too! In total, the experience and ambiance make the food taste better. It's the natural flavoring of the culture. I love it. It is a community. Food is phenomenally out-of-this-world and mind-blowingly good. The authentic feel of the restaurant matters; the quality of the food is inversely proportional to the "class" of the restaurant. The more down-to-earth, the better. These elements are essential parts that add to the flavor experience. I think the passion of the cook was explored and explicated in a grand, classic film or two based on Cantonese cooking from decades ago - possibly a comedic, religious one. They are famous for the squab, which is an expensive delicacy. Geezus, how much is it nowadays? Cost is an independent factor. Their giant platters or bowls of snow pea leaves and abalone medallions in the braised broth with sea cucumbers are top notch. I highly recommend these dishes. ”

“ Food great! Not too greasy. Food comes out fast. Came here with my parents on a Thursday 630. It was crowded and loud. We had to wait maybe 10 mins for a table. Thankfully my dad found parking in front as my mom needs a cane to walk. We ordered the foil wrap spareribs my dad was craving- love the amount of onions they give you -pork and mushroom tofu- tasty and light -the green beans with fish and scallops,- probably my favorite. Also the "fish" is dried anchovies. A bit salty tho -curry beef stew.- It was good they use coconut milk. The beef piece could have been smaller. I'd come back but not during a weekend dinner. I see they're open during lunch time so that sounds like a good time to beat the crowd. ”

“ Came here for a family birthday celebration and we got like 8 different dishes to share family-style. I was very surprised at how much flavor each dish had! We had the squab, a tofu dish, a mushroom dish, green beans, broccoli and beef, etc. They were all so tasty and there was not one I didn't like. Will definitely come back when there's another celebration to be had (so we can get a ton of dishes to share again!) ”

“ I honestly didn't have high hopes for this place because it's a traditional Chinese restaurant, so if the food here is good, the service is usually so-so, but this restaurant's food and service were both great! We got here a little before opening and there were several groups of people waiting already! We were told this place was good, but we had no idea it was this popular. We seated ourselves since the restaurant was still working on setting up, but we were quickly served and our orders were quickly taken. My mom and my aunt ordered, so I unfortunately cannot name exactly what we got, but we got fried rice, soup (I've had this soup before, it is a darker color with a tangy taste to it), a veggie dish, spare ribs dish and a lobster dish. All of the dishes were delicious. I am normally not obsessed with fried rice, but the fried rice was amazing here! It is a darker color and it is very flavorful and a perfect texture of chewiness. At the end, the servers even took away our dishes to box up all the leftovers for us, including the soup! The restaurant from the outside looks narrow, but it is pretty deep with plenty of tables. I cannot speak for the parking situation since we walked there, but I'm confident you can find free street parking nearby. ”

“ Delicious quality Chinese food and flavors. You can taste the "wok's breath" in the dishes. Portion sizes are decent. They serve a free bowl of house soup for the table for lunch if you didn't order a separate soup. We got seated quickly because we arrived before the lunch rush. Service overall was a bit slow. It's a little challenge to flag down a server to refill the tea and for getting the check. The restaurant wasn't too loud when we were dining that day. Most of the tables were filled with middle age men doing construction work grabbing lunch. I know this restaurant gets packed at night though. Food came out as it was made so each dish was steaming hot. My favorite was the braised fish and tofu dish. The tofu and fish are deep fried before being lightly braised. You can still get a bit of a crisp texture with when eating the fish. If you want to experience authentic, no frills, delicious Chinese dishes and customer experience, this place is a must visit. ”

“ New Jumbo is a staple in Sunset for consistently making good food as long as you're willing to brave the crowds and come with some patience. Last night was no different. We made a reservation and our table was ready right on time but it took some time for the staff to be ready again to take our order and it was frustrating to watch them walk by us over and over for a bit. We went with the 10 course menu listed at $398 for my grandmother's birthday and we also added an extra noodle dish for long life. Wow, the portion sizes were incredible last night! We all ate more than our fill and still had pretty substantial leftovers for some of the dishes. Some of my favorites tonight included the house special spare ribs, the steamed striped bass, the seafood fried rice, and a dark horse: the braised fish maw and sea cucumbers (which I usually don't like). I was also very appreciative of the staff who helped us keep a cake in the fridge and subsequently brought out extra plates, forks, even a lighter at the end of our meal. All said and done, our meal with tax and tip came to $520. ”
